（Poster）The King and the Queen will give the reward .

（Polly, excitedly）Ooh! I wish I could join in. I'd love to be in a race.

（Polly, happy）But it's a dressing-up race. If I'm in costume, no one will know it's me!

（Polly, excitedly）Come on, Pickle! Come on!

（Polly, shout）This is fun!

（Polly）Whoopee!

（Polly）Slow down, Pickle. We can't win. My parents mustn't see me.

（Crowd）The winners! The winners!

（King）The winners! The winners!

（Queen）The winners! The winners!

（Polly）Oh no! I'll just have to keep my costume on.

（Queen）Off with your hat and cloak. Everyone wants to see the winner.

（Polly, frightened）No! I want to keep them on.

（crowd, cried）It's the princess!

（King）Polly?

（Queen, angry）How could you? Look at you! You're so muddy. And your hair is a mess.

（King, angry） You're a disgrace.

（Crowd）Hip hip hooray for Princess Polly!

（Crowd）Well done, Princess Polly!

（boy） First prize is a royal wish. What are you going to wish for?

（Polly, firmly）For one day each week, I'd like not to be a princess. I want to get muddy and ride ponies and race.

（King, with a sigh）If you must.

（Polly, excitedly）As today is my first non-princess day…I'm going to gallop all the way home!
